Fethiye's calmest boat route — a waterfall, butterflies and a turquoise cove, departing from Ölüdeniz.
Butterfly Valley is a cove hemmed in by cliffs hundreds of metres high on either side. The footpath down from the ridge is steep and demands some experience; the practical way in is by sea. That is exactly what this tour is for.
Our boat leaves Ölüdeniz in the morning and heads straight for the valley, where it makes the longest stop of the day. Once ashore you can follow the marked path inland, spot the Jersey tiger moths that give the valley its name if you are there in season, and reach the waterfall at the end of the walk. If you would rather not walk, the beach and the clear water of the cove are reason enough to stay put.
The rest of the day takes in the Blue Cave, the Byzantine church ruins on St. Nicholas (Gemiler) Island, snorkelling over the seabed at Aquarium Bay, and Cold Water Cove where an icy mountain spring runs into the sea. Camel Beach is the last stop before heading back.

The path along the valley floor is mostly flat, but the final section is rocky and often wet. At an average pace it takes 25-35 minutes each way. Closed, non-slip shoes make a real difference compared with sandals.
No — they are seasonal. The Jersey tiger moth that gives the valley its name is most abundant between late June and September. Outside those months the valley is still striking, but you will see far fewer.
The valley is a protected area and a small landing fee may be charged when you go ashore. It is not included in the tour price, so bring a little cash.
The route is largely the same; the pace is not. The pirate tour has music and a foam party and only a short stop at the valley. This one gives the valley the longest stop and keeps the day quiet. Choose the pirate tour for fun, this one for nature and photography.
Yes. The boat part suits every age. If you plan to do the waterfall walk with small children, bear in mind the rocky ground — staying in the cove to swim is a good alternative.
